Advent Meditation
God of beauty and love, we offer our thanks for the renewal of life, for the rhythms of the seasons, for exquisite colors, for moments of rejoicing and family, for times of forgiveness and acceptance, for freedom of spirit and for the dreams you have planted in the human mind and soul.
As we anticipate the coming of the Christ-Child once again, may we also seek to capture the spirit of this life as we work for the release of all persons held captive by prejudice, small minds, and oppressive habits; as we are a people that seek justice for all people, the poor and well off; and as we embrace a peace that will overcome weapons of violence and war and replace them with a deep and sacred respect for all of life. We proclaim at this season the potential of all people and the dreams that can change our world. Keep us sensitive to the needs of those who are ill, those struggling with loss, the homeless, the abandoned, the hungry, and abused.
Make us seekers of truth and peace and practitioners of love.
Blessings,
Rev Bill Friederich
